Leonhard Kurz expands range of finishing solutions

Coating manufacturer Leonhard Kurz has expanded its range of finishing solutions with new 3D software.

The solution, Dreamcomposer, was developed for designers who want to visualise complex product enhancements – especially in packaging.

Dreamcomposer aims to take 3D design to the next level as it makes the technical realisation of a decoration task visible.

All Kurz transfer products can be incorporated into the 3D rendering of product designs. This gives designers and brand owners the opportunity to experiment with surface designs.

Dreamcomposer is compatible with common design programs and Kurz aims to streamline development processes in packaging design, reduce costs and reduce the risk potential for brand owners with the software.

Kurz digital innovation manager Roman Strauss said, “Our goal was to offer designers a software solution that depicts packaging with realistic surfaces. Because we develop technical finishing solutions ourselves, it was an obvious step to integrate them into a 3D tool for designers.”

As Dreamcomposer is a cloud solution, there is no need to install the program. Visualisations can be generated quickly due to the high degree of automation.

The software enables a 360-degree view of the decoration task and the subsequent light and colour environment of the product to be finished can be imported, as well as different surface designs and surface properties.

“Kurz offers a complete solution with Dreamcomposer: Even at an early stage of product development, they can virtually check whether the selected decorations achieve the desired goal. Physical mockups with real transfer products from Kurz are therefore only necessary in the final phase of product development. The Dreamcomposer software, developed exclusively for Kurz customers, allows brand owners to work more efficiently, identify risks early and save costs,” Strauss added.
