World Packaging Organisation (WPO) global ambassador Chakravarthi AVPS has been recognised with the most influential leader in packaging industry title following his efforts and outstanding contribution to the industry.

AVPS, who is also the president of bilateral relations trade body, INBA Hyderabad, and managing director of packaging business, Ecobliss India, is an industrialist and packaging professional from India.

AVPS received the title from the National Congress and Awards for Sustainable Exports and Packaging, held at The Taj Lands in Mumbai.

He said the board of jury unanimously chose him for the title based on his service to the paper, printing and packaging industry, which has spanned for more than 35 years.

AVPS said many more senior people have been working towards this cause and he is just a packaging passionate individual that keeps promoting a better quality of life through better packaging – this also happens to be then WPO’s mission.

“I have received so many awards and recognitions before but this one is little special. The jury felt that I made big impact on the packaging awareness front and they were unanimous,” he said.

“Appropriate packaging facilitates, availability of safe hygienic goods and prevention of their damage throughout their life cycle is essential.

“In fact, packaging with adequate design reduces the environmental impacts of goods transported, to a large extent. Proper packaging awareness and education is the need of the hour and I try to do my bit.”

AVPS is an invited speaker at many national and international industry events, forums and discussion groups. He serves on the advisory board of multiple industry-related summits, congresses and forums consisting of senior professionals.

He has also published articles in various magazines and journals, and has spoken on various international platforms in more than 25 countries.

In addition, he has mentored and chaired many programmes benefiting the industry, and has sat on a few jury boards for national and international awards.

Recently he was elected as secretary-general of the world packaging design and technology congress, a GPC/WPO initiative.
