The World Packaging Organisation (WPO) will soon be hosting its first board meeting for 2023 at interpack, scheduled for 4-10 May.
The meeting will take place on 7 May, where the new WPO president for 2024 to 2026 will also be elected.
WPO marketing senior vice-president Luciana Pellegrino said, “interpack is a very important and special occasion for WPOsince most of its board members attend it and we have the opportunity to reconnect in person and to plan the future activities”.
Another important WPO activity is the WorldStar Award Gala Ceremony on 6 May.
WPO events and WorldStar coordinator Soha Atallah added, “We thank the interpack team and Messe Düsseldorf for another year of partnership and for hosting our ceremony where packaging innovations from around the world will be celebrated.
“It is a win-win situation, the biggest packaging trade show together with the maximum association in the packaging field, working together to offer the best solutions aligned to our vision: Better Quality of Life, Through Better Packaging, For More People.”

5 May – Executive Meeting (restricted to the executive team)
6 May – Working groups meetings (marketing; sustainability & save food; education)
– WorldStar Ceremony starting 6:30 pm
7 May – 109th Board Meeting (restricted to WPO members)
– Participation at IPPO (International Packaging Press Organization) party
8 May – Participation at ‘Unique Women in Packaging’
9 May – Participation at Spotlight Talks & Trends ‘Product safety: increasing productivity and
saving food’
WPO president Pierre Pienaar said, “The idea is to have a strategic location to welcome our members, corporate partners and the global packaging community in a special area and to interact with them to present WPO activities and to show how we can contribute to the development of the packaging sector globally.”
