UPM Raflatac solves label stock’s static electricity problem

Material specialist UPM Raflatac has launched an innovative StaticOUT label stock material reducing the effects of static electricity on glossy filmic self-adhesives, which often cause paper jams in laser printing.

UPM Raflatac said static electricity can create technical challenges for printers and converters using glossy filmic self-adhesive materials. Electricity causes materials to get stuck together, which lowers the productivity and profitability of the production.

“In response to feedback from customers working with UPM Raflatac’s laser printable A4 and sheetstock filmic products, our Paper Laminates PD department has been resolving the inherent problem of static electricity and has developed a new innovative StaticOUT antistatic label stock material. The material is integrated into UPM Raflatac’s glossy Polylaser films and is available in white and clear,” UPM Raflatac EMEIA sheets segment manager Marta Zając said.

The new antistatic material can bring many benefits, including reducing the effects of static electricity on glossy filmic self-adhesives, preventing paper jams in laser printing and trouble-free handling of printed sheets.
