TricorBraun expands Australian footprint with acquisition of Plas-Pak WA

Global packaging company TricorBraun has acquired Perth-based Plas-Pak WA, a plastic packaging distributor and manufacturer, extending the company’s footprint to Western Australia for the first time.

Plas-Pak WA is a blow moulder, injection blow moulder, injection moulder, product and tool designer, and plastic packaging distributor with a strong focus on sustainable products.

Plas-Pak WA provides a standard range of plastic packaging as well as bespoke plastic products to clients in Australia and New Zealand across the food, beverage, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, agriculture, chemical, and industrial industries.

Andrew Allsop, managing director, TricorBraun ANZ, said the acquisition enables TricorBraun to build on its customer service commitment in Western Australia, while offering customers expanded services.

“We welcome the Plas-Pak WA team to the TricorBraun family, and we look forward to investing in the company’s continued growth,” said Allsop.

All Plas-Pak WA team members will remain with TricorBraun and continue to work out of the company’s Malaga, Perth location. Effective immediately, Plas-Pak WA will operate as Plas-Pak WA, a TricorBraun company.

Stephen Kiss, commercial and operations advisor, Plas-Pak WA, said the company is delighted to join a respected packaging leader.

“We look forward to continuing our service to customers, with TricorBraun’s support, resources, and investments in our growth,” said Kiss.

TricorBraun, which was established in 1902, operates from more than 100 locations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia, employing more than 2000 people globally. Since its founding, TricorBraun has partnered with management teams to acquire and 42 packaging companies globally.

TricorBraun first established its presence in Australia with the acquisition of Cormack Packaging in September 2021. In June 2022, the company acquired PB Packaging and its related businesses. Other companies within TricorBraun’s ANZ stable include Bevcap, Blowcon, Ausbottle, and SP&D. The acquisition of Plas-Pak WA follows TricorBrau’s purchase of Glassland in Germany last week. It also acquired CanSource in the US in August 2023.

Speaking to ProPack about further expansion plans for the local market, Jennifer Frighetto, senior director, communications, TricorBraun, said: “While I don’t have further news to share at this time, I can say that TricorBraun is firmly committed to the Australian marketplace, and we know first-hand the importance of local flexibility and on-the-ground expertise.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
