Sportsgirl has partnered with Australian retail packaging manufacturer PaperPak to launch paper carry bags across stores nationwide.

The Sussan Group, which includes Sportsgirl, Sussan & Suzanne Grae, have made a commitment to transition all brands from plastic to sustainable paper carry bags, which can be recycled by customers at home through their kerbside bin.

Sportsgirl is the first of the Group’s brands to launch the new sustainable solution; followed by Sussan and Suzanne Grae who will roll out their new range of paper bags in the second half of 2022.

Sussan Group said partnering with an Australian business and supporting local manufacturing was important to the business, which has a long-standing relationship with PaperPak.

It added that the range provided by PaperPak achieves Sportsgirl’s key sustainability objectives including reducing use of single-use plastic and sourcing products from reputable, certified suppliers.

“PaperPak is incredibly proud to support the Sussan Group in transitioning from plastic to paper”, PaperPak general manager Nicholas Hoskins said.

“These bags are made right here in our Australian manufacturing facility using premium kraft recycled paper. We knew that our paper solutions would provide the functionality that Sportsgirl needed. The fact these bags can be recycled via kerbside collection is even better.”
