EFI appoints BJC as its sales partner in Thailand for Nozomi solutions

Electronics For Imaging (EFI) has appointed manufacturing, packaging, and distribution company, Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC), as its first packaging business partner in Thailand.

BJC will bring EFI’s Nozomi solutions, including the recently launched Nozomi 14000 LED and the Nozomi C18000 Plus, to the Thai market.

EFI Asia-Pacific vice-president of sales, Rodd Harrison told ProPack.pro that the deal came about when the company was looking to expand its reach in the region following the emergence of COVID.

“Back in the height of COVID, we were looking at ways to expand market access and it is a unique market with specific requirements thus we needed to have a business partner with its feet on the ground to best serve our customers and prospects. So, we brought on BJC,” he said.

“BJC has history with EFI, and it is a leading player in the packaging industry, with the right capabilities. Thus, it was a logical path for us to work with them. We are excited to have BJC as our partner, who will enable us to access the right decision makers and build stronger relationships to help accelerate growth in Thailand.”

BJC graphics business vice-president Paiboon Chutimapongrut said the partnership enables the company to bring to Thailand EFI’s cost-effective, high-quality Nozomi range at a time where packaging trends are proliferating in the country.

“Packaging in Thailand is growing exponentially, driven primarily by the food industry. As a result, print and packaging companies need the most up-to-date machines that can deliver on quality, speed, versatility, and cost,” Chutimapongrut said.

Harrison added, “EFI’s Nozomi range delivers on all of those ends and allows print and packaging companies to offer any industry an infinite combination of applications. To serve our customers best, EFI has developed a consultative approach. This is a process during which we partner with our customers to understand their needs, and their applications as well as their future vision.

“This will help us to offer a tailor-made solution with the right Nozomi configuration to future-proof their business.  This partnership is another step in strengthening EFI’s foothold in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We have agents in other markets in Southeast Asia, China and in Japan that we work very closely with. Adding BJC to this list just goes to show that we’re committed to our core message and goals, which is to drive the transformation from analogue to digital. And we’re doing it in all sorts of different application spaces – it’s all part of the mission.”

BJC recently hosted an open house in Thailand, showcasing some of EFI’s Nozomi solutions, which included a product demonstration of the features and benefits of the Nozomi 14000 LED.

EFI’s Nozomi 14000 LED

The Nozomi 14000 LED is EFI’s ultra-high-speed inkjet solution for the corrugated market. It is an advanced direct-to-board digital press that leverages Nozomi single-pass UV LED inkjet technology with improvements that bring enhanced productivity, reliability, value and flexibility to the industrial packaging segment.

The 14000 LED model can run at up to 75 linear metres per minute with new productivity modes, offering quality throughput while meeting corrugated packaging manufacturers’ needs for more compact production lines.

The Nozomi 14000 LED also boasts a robust design for heavy industrial use, high reliability and high productivity. It offers packaging converters high uptime, and excellent versatility – with the ability to print nearly all board flute types.

Users can choose from a range of configurations to complement individual needs, with single or dual bottom feeder options, a roller coater capable of applying varying amounts of primer, an optional varnish station that allows for a range of gloss or satin finishes, and full or bundle stacker options.

Available with up to six colours, including white, the EFI Nozomi 14000 LED press’s inks provide outstanding colour registration and coverage, and its high-speed, non-clogging, high-performance jetting printheads deliver accuracy and smooth colour gradients.

“This is the first VIP open house BJC has had with EFI. We had major packaging companies who were very interested in our solutions, and we had a very interactive session,” Harrison said.

“There’s a lot of interest in migrating towards digital the right way, which isn’t about analogue replacement but about analogue augmentation. So, together with BJC, we’re supporting our customers to embark on their digital journey.”
