Domino to unveil digital retrofit module

Domino Printing Sciences has been developing the new digital retrofit module for integration or retrofitting into flexographic presses to offer hybrid printing. The equipment will be unveiled during this year’s edition of Labelexpo Europe.

According to Domino, many conventional label and packaging printers are looking to integrate digital hybrid options into their flexographic workflows. To support transition, the company will launch new digital retrofit module allowing OEMs and converters to add Domino’s digital inkjet printing engine into their existing production lines.

Domino divisional director for digital printing David Ellen said, “Hybrid presses are cutting costs for converters through just-in-time delivery, short-run cost efficiency, and waste reduction – they also allow flexo print providers to stay current with market trends and meet the demands of their clients.

“Domino’s digital retrofit module provides a lower cost, short cut process for customers looking to build hybrid flexibility into their flexographic presses.”

More technical details about the new digital retrofit module will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Labelexpo visitors can also expect an “exciting announcement” around the upcoming release of a new ripping technology, which could potentially improve production throughput for label converters.

Ellen added, “In digital printing, the job processing speeds have a significant impact on overall production capacity, and a front-end solution supporting a label press will ultimately determine the maximum speed of the line.

“This has long been a challenge for converters – our latest development provides a significant step change in data processing capabilities.”

Domino digital printing European commercial director Peter Van Riel said, “We are very pleased to announce that we will be returning to Labelexpo Europe for 2023. The most eagerly anticipated event in the European label converting calendar is all the more exciting after a four-year break, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors back to the Domino stand.”
