AIP continues partnership with AWRE

The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) partners again with the Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo (AWRE) to host three educational events and a new Packaging Pavilion. This collaboration includes two complimentary packaging sessions, a mini training course, and an exhibition stand in the Packaging Pavilion. All AIP activities contribute points towards the Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) designation.

AIP Packaging Pavilion

Launching in July 2024, the AIP has developed an innovative packaging pavilion specifically for its member companies. This pavilion offers a reduced-cost package to help members showcase their packaging solutions to a broader industry audience, including councils, government bodies, and the waste and recycling sector. Limited stands are available, so members are encouraged to book in early.

The three educational sessions are as follows:

AIP Packaging Session 1: How to Meet Global and Regional Packaging Design Standards – 24 July – NSW EPA Theatre – 11:15 am – 12:15 pm

This session will offer guidance on designing packaging that complies with the upcoming Federal Government’s National Packaging Design Standards, the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulations, and the Sustainable Packaging Design Guidelines. It will explore global design guides like the WPO Global Packaging Design for Recycling Guide. The session will highlight award-winning sustainable packaging designs recognised by WorldStar and PIDA for their innovation. Confirmed speakers include Ralph Moyle FAIP, CPP, education coordinator, and Pippa Corry, founder of Phil & Co.

AIP Packaging Session 2: The Future Growth of the Australasian Recycling Labelling (ARL) Program – 25 July – NSW EPA Theatre – 2:30 – 3:30 pm

With over 500,000 SKUs across Australia and New Zealand now using the ARL, this session will discuss the latest changes and updates to the ARL program, the ARL Marketplace, and consumer insights. The session will feature a panel discussion with experts in the ARL program, including Ralph Moyle FAIP, CPP, education coordinator, AIP; Bonnie Marshall, policy officer, National Retail Association; and Sarah Sannen, head of operations, APCO.

AIP Mini Training Course: The Value of Embedding ARL on Your Packaging – 25 July – Meeting Room Level 3 – 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

As the packaging industry evolves, so does the Australasian Recycling Labelling (ARL) Program for Australia and New Zealand. This updated course will cover the use of ARL logos, changes to soft plastics thresholds, the new Check Locally program, intersections between ARL and Away from Home collection programs, ARL & Container Deposit Schemes, ARL & RecycleMate APP, ARL & QR codes, ARL Consumer Insights, ARL Marketplace for SMEs, and best practice award-winning examples. The course will include an interactive session where attendees can discuss their own packaging.
