Miraclon will explain the importance of ‘Modern Flexo’ in a presentation at the ProPack Packaging Forum in Sydney on Friday 25 October.
As the regional lead for ‘Modern Flexo’ at Miraclon, and with over 40 years of industry experience, Steve Smith supports flexographic printers to help them achieve shelf parity across print processes and maximise their on-press efficiencies for cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
In his presentation, Smith will explain the definition on ‘Modern Flexo’ in more detail and also reference case studies including those from within the Australian market.
“For Miraclon, ‘Modern Flexo’ is an approach that helps maximise on-press benefits through the adoption of standardised print production processes,” Smith said.
“With a key objective to achieve visual parity with gravure, offset and digital, we explore the multiple gains ‘Modern Flexo’ can enable and how it has helped leading packaging printers simplify their flexographic print production, while ensuring greater consistency, cleaner printing and more sustainable packaging print production.”
Earlier this year at drupa, Steve Smith and Andy Yarrow from Miraclon used Australian products to demonstrate what they called the ‘Champions of Modern Flexo’ including packaging from Red Rock Deli, Arnott’s and Victoria Bitter among others.
Also discussed during the Miraclon presentation will be a case story from ALFT Packaging in Sri Lanka – demonstrating the full value set of ‘Modern Flexo’ including a local connection with pre-press work completed by Kirk’s.
Smith, who is based in Melbourne, has over 40 years of experience in the printing industry and has been involved at the leading edge of most of the technologies that have transformed the industry over time, particularly from the graphic reprographics side. Over the last decade, he has been involved in flexography with Miraclon’s industry leading solutions, working closely with customers.
