Brisbane’s Kuhn Corp Print & Packaging is celebrating 30 years of growth and achievements this year, saying it will continue to scale its products, distribution and processes into the future.
The company has plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Malaysia to accommodate the growth and demand for packaging within the Australia and Asia Pacific region.
From humble beginnings in 1993, Kuhn Corp Print & Packaging opened its doors as an instant print shop in Albion, Brisbane with two staff members in a 150m2 factory.
Fast forward 30 years, it is now a large-scale commercial printing, product packaging, egg packaging and distribution business in Virginia, Brisbane with a 1,100m2 production facility and additional warehousing factories.
Kuhn Corp founder Walter Kuhn attributes the company’s growth to the dedication, innovation and creativity of its team of 11, its community involvement and long-standing partnerships with businesses and suppliers both in Australia and overseas.
The team has trained more than 10 apprentices in pre-press, graphic design, printing and print finishing over the last 30 years. A credit to its team culture, its labelling supervisor started with Kuhn Corp as a junior in 1998 and has continued to work with the company for the last 25 years.
“Our staff have been our biggest asset and we are fortunate to have had a team of passionate creatives that align with our company values and continue to produce exceptional quality work,” Kuhn said.
Kuhn mentioned that some of the company’s industry achievements include being awarded numerous state and national Craftsmanship Print Awards since 1995 and positioning its company as the first choice of printers for State and Federal Government, large corporate companies and small local business across Australia.
He added that another highlight for the business has been launching its online store during COVID lockdowns amid the uncertainty, aimed at providing B2B support through a contactless ordering and delivery process.
Kuhn Corp also has a focus on sustainability and is accredited by Sustainable Green Print with the highest level of sustainability. The print facility and offices are powered by solar energy for 75 per cent of its daily power usage and offers a range of plant based inks and recycled paper stock options to limit environmental impact.
In 1998, Kuhn Corp aligned with Ovotherm International in Vienna to become business partners and the Australasian distribution agents for a first of its kind recycled PET Egg Carton – aimed at closing the loop on waste. These cartons are now stocked in retail outlets such as IGA, Woolworths, Coles and Costco.
