Esko has unveiled the CDI Crystal XPS ‘Quartz Edition’, its newest innovation that aims to set a new standard in flexographic print quality, at drupa.

A new top-of-the-line addition to the family of Esko CDI Crystal XPS plate imaging and exposing solutions, the CDI Crystal XPS ‘Quartz Edition’ combines the upgraded optics of the CDI Crystal with optimised Crystal Screening software.

“drupa has been going on for a couple of days and a lot of excitement has arisen from this innovation that we’re introducing here at the show,” Esko marketing director Jan de Roeck told ProPack.

“The machine is a CDI Crystal XPS which is a flexo plate making imaging as well as exposing solution. The innovation that we’re introducing is called the ‘Quartz Edition’. The ‘Quartz Edition’ sis a special version of the CDI Crystal XPS which is address a special top notch of the market in terms of flexo graphic print quality.”

The innovation is primarily targeted at label and packaging converters – and their premedia plate suppliers – who are intent on delivering market-leading flexo print quality.

The Esko CDI Crystal XPS ‘Quartz Edition’ is also compatible with solvent and water-based inks – delivering an increased density of 0.7 for water-based inks, which are becoming increasingly popular due to their sustainability benefits.
