Woolworths has introduced a new range of reusable bags designed to make packing easier at self-checkouts, while also celebrating uniquely Australian icons.
The new Click & Stay collection, features a built-in mechanism that clicks into place at the top of the bag, ensuring it stays open during packing. The concept is aimed at shoppers tackling bigger grocery loads through self-checkouts or using Woolworths’ expanding Scan & Go service, which is now available in 30 stores.
The bags have also been designed to fit neatly into Woolworths’ signature green trolleys, speeding up the checkout process.
Beyond practicality, the collection adds a touch of local flavour with three designs showcasing nostalgic Australian themes. Shoppers can choose from Cockatoo & Wattle, Coffee & Finger Bun, or Famous Aussie Things – a playful print that includes fairy bread, quokkas and the Hills Hoist, alongside nods to well-known landmarks like Cape Byron Lighthouse, the Bungle Bungles and The Dish at Parkes.
Woolworths Bag Expert, Rhonda Ma, said the retailer wanted to combine functionality with a sense of fun.
“We really wanted to bring a bit of fun to our latest bag design, celebrating what makes Australia special with classic Aussie icons and that ‘if you know, you know’ charm. These bags are designed for life beyond the supermarket – think picnics, work commutes, or a day out at the beach – as they’re functional and durable for everyday use,” she said.
“And importantly, they solve a challenge for some shoppers who have a larger number of items in their basket to checkout: they click open and stay open, making packing even easier, which is a solution we know some of our customers using self-checkout and trailing Scan & Go have been asking for.”
The Click & Stay range has rolled out to Woolworths stores nationwide, with each design priced at $4.
They join the supermarket’s wider reusable bag collection, which includes Green Totes, Chiller Bags, Art Bags and the recently released foldable ‘fruit’ fabric bags.
