Sidel positioned in top five per cent by EcoVadis sustainability rankings

Beverage packaging technology company Sidel’s Octeville site in France has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal following a comprehensive review of its supply chain strategy at both local and corporate-group level.

Sidel was also positioned in the top five per cent of reporting companies in 2024 by the sustainability assessors, highlighting the company’s commitment to its sustainability practices and transparency.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for our EcoVadis reporting,” Sidel vice-president of strategy and sustainability Francesca Bellucci said.

“This is a remarkable achievement that reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainability, ethics, and responsible business practices.”

Sidel partnered with EcoVadis in 2017 to assess and improve its environmental, social, and ethical performance as part of its new supply chain strategy.

With over 17 years of expertise, EcoVadis has assessed sustainability efforts for more than 125,000 companies, evaluating them across four key categories: environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement practices.

Sidel said its latest achievement follows a comprehensive review involving more than 300 questions covering critical areas such as environmental impact, labour rights, health and safety, ethics, and responsible procurement.

“The evaluation was both rigorous and extensive, demanding significant collaboration and commitment from our teams,” Sidel HSE business partner Armelle Biton said.

“It encompassed the Sidel Octeville site and corporate-level assessments, adding complexity to the process and making the final recognition all the more rewarding.”

Sidel said this Gold Medal not only celebrates its current accomplishments but also sets the stage for wider ongoing efforts towards group-level reporting.

“We are confident that this success will inspire us to reach even greater heights in our sustainability journey,” Bellucci added.
